Asian Exhibitions in the Year of the Dragon
The past three years have been challenging for the global economy. The U.S. and major European economies have suffered through unprecedented recessions and with the current European debt crisis and continued weakness in the U.S., the outlook is still far from positive. During this challenging time, the exhibition industry in Asia has defied the odds and posted growth every year since 2004.
As the exhibition industry in Europe and the U.S. continue to struggle, by contrast, the industry in Asia looks strong. With few exceptions, net square metres sold rise each year, acquisition activity is increasing, new venues open and organisers across the region are launching new events.
The eyes of the industry are, understandably, on Asia. At UFI’s 7th Open Seminar in Asia, our first in mainland China, we have assembled an impressive line-up of industry leaders who will address a variety of key issues facing the exhibition industry in Asia.
The UFI Open Seminar in Asia has become the exhibition industry’s most important event in Asia. Please join us this February in Shenzhen to learn more about the outlook of exhibitions in Asia as well as the opportunity to network with industry leaders from across Asia. |

 |
 |
Panelists:
Aloysius Arlando, Chief Executive Officer, Singex Group
Hans-Joerg Geduhn, General Manager, Shanghai International New Expo Centre
Monica Lee-Müller, Deputy Managing Director, Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre
Asia has added more venue capacity in the past decade than any other region in the world. Since 2004, gross space available has leapt from about 3 million sqm to well over 6 million sqm. That infrastructure investment has enabled the Asian exhibition industry to rapidly grow, but it has also resulted in some challenging market conditions including over-supply in some markets and a lack of qualified staff. Our panel will discuss the pros and cons of operating a venue in the world’s fastest growing exhibition market.
